TRANSITIONAL HEALTHCARE POLICY

  • Are you staying patient while the healthcare industry asks for help?

You're doing good work if you're willing to hear more... https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ <--- see what was going at this event packed with insights on the industry's latest successes, uses of Ai, and struggles!!

It was full of insider info (and cries for "care" in healthcare). Maybe you'll have some ideas on how to help locally.

This is not the most uplifting topic, so great real and get going!! ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ We need more time, attention, and requests of accountability given to the healthcare industryโŒ›๏ธ

Every one of us is headed that way eventually!!!! ๐Ÿฅ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿšถ๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™ˆ

  • 'Transitional Healthcare'... what's going on in that world... ? ๐Ÿ’‰๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ Visit my event review here: https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

  • Even just noticing a problem helps. ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Let's get some clarification!!! And representation for the nation!

That was a big takeaway for the audience from some of the healthcare leadership at this event. They want for citizens to get involved, TALK to local decision-makers, and start to lobby/advocate for this broken system!! Healthcare needs help and care!

We will talk more about all of this over the next few posts, covering bitesized takeways from the 'Transitional Healthcare' symposium! Blog here: https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

    And
, not to sound too much like Dr. Seuss, but
Let's see how we can help
The people give better care to us
When they're trying to help us in healthcare. Right? ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ
(cause if we don't they'll be serving us green eggs and ham- ew!) ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ™Š

What sparks in your nerve over this next topic of 'healthcare'? Where can you make a difference?

And, duh! Healthcare affects us all... often when we least want to get involved. Can we at least be proactive while we're patient, not patients!?

  • So, let's start here with healthcare: โฌ‡๏ธ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€โš•๏ธ๐Ÿ‘จ๐Ÿฝโ€โš•๏ธ
Did you know we're super low on nurses?? We have been for a while, and now we're having to cut corners when hiring?!

    - Right now we are almost 200,000 workers short since Covid.
    - 94% of facilities are not currently meeting the requirements of this new staffing mandate.
    - More than 290,000 residents are at risk of displacement.

โฌ‡๏ธ MORE PROBLEMS: some MORE notes from the speakers at this policy event on the topic of nurses and education:

    - โ€œWe are very short of nurses. Itโ€™s scary.  We canโ€™t get faculty.  Itโ€™s a cycle.  We canโ€™t pay for faculty. I donโ€™t know how itโ€™s going to be 20 years from now. But colleges and universities would like to talk to you.โ€

    - "Many of our nurses are not trained in healthcare settings.  Maybe at a community college, disconnected."

    - "A lot of these nurses have never been to college, and their GPA isnโ€™t what it takes to get into a nursing program. But they are good, caring healthcare providers."

    - "Their job is so important, and many of these people had spent a fair amount of time in practice already and loved their work."

    โ†—๏ธ SOLUTIONS:

๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ๐Ÿ•บ How can you help? Read my blog for more insights: https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

    -
"My challenge to all of you in this room, reach out to your education programs: social work and nursing.  These students need experiences."

    - "Get a partnership with universities and hospitals.  Start apprenticeships to get people experience and help add to the pool of knowledgeable staff."

    - "Give students a great experience and help them see the picture much broader.  There are many opportunities when you look at your schools."

  • How much time do nurses spend on paperwork?
    ๐Ÿง๐Ÿ’ญ๐Ÿงฎ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€โš•๏ธ+๐Ÿ“=๐Ÿฅโณ๐Ÿ˜…...
About 35% of their time!! Over a third of their time.

๐Ÿ™ƒ. 1/3rd of the understaffed nursing team's time is spent filling things out by hand.

You know what/who knows how to write stuff? Ai!! Innovations are coming and norms are changing, to save lives and time. Artificial Intelligence is here, as one solution to rescue nurses from the tedious the headache of paperwork, (whether we like that solution or not) ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿค–. We're letting the Ai update records as the patients and nurses discuss. Then those notes help make diagnoses.

Read more about the state of healthcare and my event review: https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

    What
do you think of this solution? And who is double checking the notes??

We are in dire need for more help. So perhaps we do let the bots step in for the minor work and give nurses more time with patients?

Idk! Would love to hear your solutions towards restaffing the healthcare industry promptly? Mine include:
    - glamorizing the industry more in pop culture and media
    - pay higher & have better work conditions
    - create more mentorship programs (hashtag#KellyTutorsStreetTeam needs to be made here this year!! Idk?)

  • Trivia Time: What's an 'acceptable/unconcerning amount of medicine to take per day' for someone over 65?

    According to the industry: 5+

    ๐Ÿ˜ง๐Ÿ˜ฉ๐Ÿ˜ก

    Are you kidding me!?

This is why 'not enough research' has gone into alternatives. Medications are cash cows๐Ÿฎ.

The industry can't afford to admit that people can get healthier with sunshine (free), walking (free), no tv (free), cutting out soda/alcohol/chips/candy (free)... the 'healthcare' industry's trillion dollar profits would evaporate! - AND this saves everyone money/debt lessened!! geeze.

Of course they 'don't have enough research yet' and don't prioritize it. ๐Ÿ˜ค

At this event, leadership expressed relief for when someone is only on 5 medications, "polypharmic". A doctor/presenter literally said: "I love it when people only have 5 medicationsโ€ฆ โ€œoh youโ€™re only on five!โ€

    Wild mindset. ๐Ÿ˜ค๐Ÿคฌ๐Ÿ˜ก

And everyone is fine with this norm here in the USA!!? The professionals, the top tier - settle for everyone around their 60's being on 5+ medications ('severe' is 9+!)... What is up with our country overdosing everyone!?

Not me. Call me 'extreme' but I'd like '1/none' to be the norm that we aim for as humans... our bodies are made to repair ourselves (and in biblical times people were living to be HUNDREDS of years old!! This 'age of information' is to get serious about HEALTH- true health of our bodies' capabilities to heal and grow.)

If the majority of humans 65+, let's say a few decades from now, need minimal/no medications, we've succeeded!! Educating ourselves, proactive with our habits + surroundings (less chemicals into our bodies from our food, medications, air, water, etc...)

I used to be polypharmatic at some points in my life. I'd likely STILL be if I hadn't changed so much, now I take ZERO.

And- warning!! Everyone is different. My situation isn't the same as yours or anyone else's... but some of these are good for anyone to try. Why wouldn't you want to get off medications?! Be free.

I replaced medications with nonstop hydration, teas, self-care, healthy food, lived overseas a bit, got rid of my car, walking a lot, actively work to enjoy my work, learning patience, new and challenging experiences, no alcohol, supplements, mentorship, boycotting BIG skincare/makeup, more sunlight, lite strength training, more education on nutrition/bodies!! Accomplishing more!!

'Healthy lifestyles' are different for everyone. They can't be packed in a pill or truly recommended to us to explore - it's up against a trillion dollar industry of experts ๐Ÿ™„

    -
    ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ

And, yeah - What percent of adults over 65+ are polypharmic per continent??
    - N. America: 65%
    - Asia: 42%
    - Europe: 40%
    - Ocenia: 36%
    - Africa: 20%
    - Antartica: 0%

  • 'ADVOCACY' and 'LOBBYING' carry a negative connotation lately. An expert from this policy symposium presented on this issue. (-blog link below-๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ)But, actually,'Lobbying' and 'Advocacy' are not in opposition. They are fighting the same fight. They could consider, even, working TOGETHER to influence healthcare policy. ๐Ÿค”. Especially, given it's the 2nd most regulated industry in the USA...(๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ-blog link here-): https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ๐Ÿ“ฃ ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿซธ๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿซท๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ—ฃ๏ธ๐ŸŽ™๏ธ ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿงญโฌฟใ€œโคณ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ“ˆ

  • How do you defined "advocacy" and "lobbying"? ๐Ÿ“๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿผโ€๐Ÿ’ปOne healthcare leader/speaker shared her thoughts:๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ - While 'lobbying' may carry a negative connotation, it's important to understand it as a tool for directly engaging policymakers to bring about change. ๐Ÿ’โ€โ™€๏ธ - Advocacy, on the other hand, involved broader public support for a cause, often through awareness and education. Both are essential for shaping the future of healthcare. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ - Language matters and "lobbying" has become an inflammatory word, but it's not a bad word depending on how you use it. It conflates with advocacy. They are two sides of the same coin with the same intentions. ๐Ÿ‘‰ ADVOCACY: Public support for or recommendation of a particular cause or policy. Promoting a cause or issue through activities such as raising awareness, educating people, campaigning...๐Ÿค LOBBYING: To seek to influence with a politician or public official on an issue. Direct communication with policymakers to influence legislation or regulations through proposing, supporting, or opposing legislation. ๐Ÿซด Keep reading here: https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

  • Wanna help the healthcare industry in your free time? Me too!! How can we?

    ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

Can we make 'working at hospitals' "cool" again? Pay better? Implement better logistic systems? Less waste financially by the ones spending money? Less greed? What's going on?? How do we fix this?

https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ <-- read more at my blog when you have a minute. I'll be posting about this topic for about one week more, then we're onto 'taxes'.. then, 'robotics & ai in agriculture' (and that one was the most uplifting 'tech' event I've been to in a while hahaha). ๐Ÿง‘โ€๐ŸŒพ๐Ÿค–๐Ÿ•บ

    Stay tuned!!

  • Do you your waiting time for medical help to go quicker?
Turns out leadership does, too!! (at least a lot of them do!!) ๐Ÿฅผ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ™ƒ They brought up current trends in healthcare here: https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

    As
it is with many industries, caring people WANT to help, but RULES are in place that prevent this care from happening efficiently.

๐Ÿ™ƒ. We need to educated the decision makers who are deciding on these rules. Rewriting the rules takes time and it costs more than money. How much are we willing to sacrifice just for the sake of "following rules" which benefit the minority???

  • ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ How are we going to catch up??? 4 real tho. Look at these stats! ๐Ÿ“Š๐ŸฅดIt's the expected number of people to turn 65 over the next few decades + the number of expected healthcare workerssss - if things are off the charts now... it's going to get worse wit we keep up this without any plan for a cure!! We need a hero's journey to come back with a cure for this crisis!Read more here. This is a blog on an event I attended about Healthcare (Especially the elderly): https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

  • As we wrap up this topic, let's get one thing clear... leadership in healthcare (at last some of them) extremely want our help!! They need us to reach out to local representatives and decisions makers (or whatever ideas we can think of) and help get healthcare back on track. If not... here's what she predicts:

Us: ๐Ÿ˜ฉ "Who made these rules? Why is this the outcome?"
๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธEvent Speaker: ITS CAUSE YOU WEREN'T INVOLVED. COME HELP!!!

You are invited to help ๐Ÿ˜๐Ÿ‘

Often times, things are done as discretely as possible ON PURPOSE, but they're still public records that you can look up (lol! go read the blog I posted recently about the fire annexing, that was wild!)

Public records aren't required to be organized. It takes digging to find gold.

Do you want to help? Then go! Start now - even 'noticing' is the first key... then start acting on what you see. We all need to get active while we can be patient. Yes, patient - not patients. (Don't worry, we're almost done with this topic and so I can only tell that joke a few more times... you'll miss it!!)

For real!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‹๐Ÿผโ€โ™€๏ธ Why do you think I'm here covering this topic in my blog here - https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ? ๐Ÿ‘ฉ๐Ÿผโ€โš•๏ธ How can we help?

  • ๐Ÿ“ˆ And btw! One trending idea to free up some time for staff: getting ol' Ai to step in ๐Ÿ‘‹๐Ÿค–. Maybe it can take notes while the patient and staff discuss during check ins and/or vitals?

Just gotta make sure it's staying accurate..... ๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ‘‰๐Ÿงพ

... more insights at my blog๐Ÿ‘‡
    https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

    What
are your thoughts on Ai's involvement?

  • Wanna see the future? ๐Ÿคณ๐Ÿป๐Ÿ”ฎ Would this strategy work?

Another idea on how to get 'healthcare' back on track ๐ŸšŠ๐Ÿ”œ. Would we get more nurses if it was glamorized more in media? (How many teens want to be an "influencer" when they grow up? It's cool!)

How can your industry help? ๐Ÿ’ญ Things like this are innovative and may reinforce the world we want to see!!

Everything can work together, it's all connected. ๐Ÿงฉ Like how this post connects to my blog https://lnkd.in/gixfpWvQ

    Leave
behind a legacy of helping YOURSELF in the FUTURE (hello!! we all need healthcare) - let's make it awesome.
