Aviation Museum Expo + Market
Disclaimer:
Everything below is a mix of what I observed and heard during the event. The goal isn’t to pinpoint "who exactly said what," but to share (usually) an outsider's view and overall perspective on these industries. I’m not here to act as a definitive firsthand source—readers should do their own research. I hope this inspires you to attend events, explore new industries, and hear what leaders are presenting. These notes combine my observations with thoughts on how things could run smoother and how ideas connect (IMO). I’m not an expert, you know? Just hanging out in the room with them. Enjoy!

Mr Bluesky, please tell us why,
You had to hide away for so long? Where did we go wrong?
Hey there Mr. Blue,
We're so pleased to be with you,
Look around see what you do,
Everybody smiles at you.
Topic: Aircraft Enthusiasts, Flight, Sky Monitoring, Atmosphere Conditions, Collectables, Bargaining, DVD + BluRay
All aboard! Flight enthusiasts, get over here! It’s time to head to the museum of flight and chat about what’s going on in the sky. My biggest question? Why does the sky keep getting filled with haze every day? Are we getting the sun blocked out on purpose by someone? Why am I the only one I know IRL concerned and addressing this? What happened to our true blue skies? Where’d they go? Where’d we go wrong? Realistically, I don’t think my answers will be solved from this event… nor even addressed!! 😅 I think this is a topic we constantly skirt around and will continue to do so at an event about sky-travel-love, but let’s see!
Why Attend? This city I’m living in, is a hub of aviation fascination!! It’s a great place to learn from experts and enthusiasts. Plus, we’re near places that require a lot of flying: we’re ‘close’ to Hawaii, Alasaka, you know? If you wanna fly, Seattle has some high stake routes. Let’s see what’s going on in the flight community - and see if they talk about our skies in the way I’m looking for. Let’ see what I learn!

Notes from the Event
Disclaimer: I had way more pictures than notes. This was NOT what I thought it was going to be, and then some 😂
Well, that was underwhelming. Three events in a row hahaha. Luckily tomorrow I’m heading to a full-fledge two-day event that I BELIEVE will match my expectations
At least in the sense of “content and intellect provided by the speakers” should be met at this event I attend tomorrow. It’s formal.
Lately, I’ve been struggling to find that at events (three events in a row were flops!) but still full of lessons.
I’m picking up on other things, if you’ve been with me here, you know!
This event was very ‘less’ than it described online. I thought there would more to it, but it was just a market with collectables for sale. I thought it’d have speeches, things to see, vendors, etc.
This event had probably 50 tables with people selling great artifacts from airplane memorabilia.
I was lucky when arriving cause I walked through a weird door and then the guy let me in for free. I saw at the last minute the event was free if you buy a museum ticket, but it seems that me fumbling for my words and telling the guy I was there for legit - just that (which he called “the memorabilia sale” and I looked at my phone to confirm, “yeah, the aviation expo?”)
But after I saw it, and I did tell him my plan wasn’t to walk around the museum, I see why he just let me in for free.
It was so tiny of an event hahaha.
BTW - On my way out he was talking with a coworker about how it’s rude when you take someone out to dinner and they buy the most expensive thing on the menu.
These days everyone is chitchatting about money.
High school kids on the subway talk about how they want to save up for cars (reminder, I sold mine love it) and security elders working at the museum are upset with guests taking advantage of meals.
A lot of this is education and communication. Our society always tells us to yolo, live each night and day as if it’s your last, etc. Treat yourself… all of this is good - but when you’re staying financially savvy.
When you treat your finances in this way, it’s just hard to keep up.
Treat your finances like a garden haha. A garden that feeds you.
Throughout the tables were all sorts of things for sale. Mostly it was sturdy remakes off planes for sale, LOTS of DVD and bluray for sale. Soon I’ll be posting on my linkedin about vertical farming, makes me think of that. Hahah. Trends in media, trends in agriculture.
Some people had safety cards for sale, art, maps. I wanted to find some maps with greenland/the North Pole as the center, but didn’t see much of that. It’s something I wanted lately, just to look at. I heard thats how pilots navigate too? But I’m not totally sure.
There were shirts, hats, cups, you know. Stickers, books
I heard one guy say, you better buy that book! As someone was looking at his book, “cause the author is standing right here”.
IDK I don’t like that marketing strategy haha. But it reminds me of the other day at the decentralized ai event where the guy jokingly said, “say every problem like it’s a joke so that way you can say you were joking.”
I don’t know a better way to pitch his book than this, but I don’t think that’s the best way to do it.
Maybe tell a story and have the book alongside it. So then when they tell other people about the book they got they have an exciting story to go along with it? Idk just spitballing.
The travel there and back was fun. Lately, I’m enjoying working on my laptop in transportation more, hahah. It is better than just sitting there on the bus/subway and waiting to go home or staring into space. I can keep up with more.
So, I worked on my blog for the way home, and here we are now!!!
What a lackluster event review, haha, huh?
But btw, I am in the middle of this small town right now. It’s like a historic town by the airport. Called “Georgetown” looks so interesting and I’ld like to return here sometime for an event or concert or something. Looks very fun. Never heard of it but it’s such a really cool and interesting neighborhood. Lots of amazing shops, restaurants, brick-made buildings, food trucks.
It’d be fun to spend a day/night here!!! I want to do that. Hahah. Maybe we do that soon, alongside visiting the baseball game or something. Or when family visits.
It looks like an incredible place to visit!! Okay?
- Let’s go see Georgetown (and more of Washington) ASAP! 😂
Also now I realize I need a business card 😂
See you next time!!
OVERALL EVENT REVIEWS ELABORATED:
Venue (3/5): Just so far awayyyy!! And for most people, this event was part of the cost of the ticket to the museum - they let me in for free. But, yeesh!! Will that get in enough people? Idk. Maybe. I guess ‘this crowd’ would be thrilled to get a two-for-one, so probably it works. It was decently crowded.
Food (0/5): None! I’m sure there were water fountains but I didn’t even stumble into it (nor look for it hahah).
Speaker Content (2/5) : I mean, everyone there was passionate about it. But I wasn’t really looking to have one-to-one conversations and pretend to be interested in this stuff. I think I expected something different, so I wasn’t in a shopping/exploring mindset. I was ready to be taught. Which I could have done in this environment too, but also I had a few things to do today - so as soon as I realized this was NOT what I thought it was, I started wrapping it up. Aka, pretty immediately hahaha. Things to do.
Netwokring (1/5): I did not talk to anyone except the security guard/ticket checker. That was fine hahaha.
Likeliness to Return (1.5/5): I like this museum and venue. I’d return, but NOT for this event. haahah. Once was good. :)
Until next time, I wish you the motivation and success to search for opportunities around your area. Search and explore: Who is out there giving talks? There are new things happening all of the time.
Find relatable or interesting topics you like and check them out! Maybe even something hosted at a cool venue, if there’s no other reason to go. Let’s see what you can learn and discover not too far from home. 😊
